Looking For A Mentor

Having a mentor gives you support as you transition into your adult life. A mentor also provides encouragement during challenging times, an ear to listen when feeling down and listens to you when you have questions about life.

Good characteristics of a mentor:

  • An individual who will have time for you when you need to talk about the challenges of life
  • Someone who shows emotional and spiritual maturity
  • A person who is able to effectively deal with conflict
  • Someone who has common interests the same as you
  • A person you are comfortable sharing your struggles with

A mentor isn't someone to replace God in your life, but rather to provide support and objective input when asking for advice. The elders or deacons at your church may have someone they recommend for you.
