Supporting Your Pastor
The heart of a Godly pastor is to serve and care for the people entrusted into his / her care by the Lord. Pastors need encouragement as they bring leadership to the church fellowship. Here some suggestions let your pastor know you appreciate him / her.
- Be willing to volunteer
- Faithfully pray for your pastor to know the Lord's leading in their life. On occasion let the pastor know you support him/her in prayer.
- Invite the pastor and family to your home for a meal, allowing this to be a fun time, not a counseling session
- Leave an anonymous gift certificate in your pastors mail box
- Ministering to others comes with a huge personal sacrifice. Send roses to your pastors wife to bring encouragement to the sacrifice she makes with her husband being in ministry and how they operate their lives around the church schedule.
- Pool together funds with congregation members to send your pastor and spouse away for a weekend
- Pray for your pastor as he prepares the weekly message
- Send a restaurant gift certificate on your pastor's anniversary
- Send cards to the pastor and his family as a means of support
- Share a smile with your pastor during the message
- Share with the pastor how the Sunday message impacted you
- Show up for special events
- Speak to and hug your pastor at the door
- Support the vision of the church
- Take care of your pastor and his personal needs
- Tell your pastor you are glad he is there
- When appropriate go with your pastor on pastoral care visits
- Write a note letting your pastor know how his ministry has impacted your life
