Church Life: Doctrine Essentials

While some church fellowships focus on a specific theme of Christianity and have developed this to serve the entire body of Christ the following are the essential common doctrines to the Christian faith:

  • We have to acknowledge our sin and our sinful nature, turn from it and accept the gift of salvation found in Jesus.
  • Salvation is a gift, not based on works.
  • The Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - separate yet one. Father sending His perfect Son as a sacrifice for us, after which Jesus was crucified in our place, taking on the sin of the world. The Holy Spirit is alive and well in each believer to help us follow after Jesus each day.
  • We are able to pray to God directly with increased power in prayers where believers pray together as one voice to the Lord.
  • Baptism is a public announcement of accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior and is done out of obedience to scripture.
  • Communion is a celebration of the Lord Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. We do this in remembrance of Jesus life on earth and a celebration of our salvation found in Him.
  • The Holy Spirit is active in the world today guiding believers and through the gifts of the Spirit. Signs and wonders, such as healing, will follow those who believe.
  • Despite various denominations those who love the Lord come together to form the body of Christ, His church.
  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is absolute truth.
