Church Life: Care Packages For Youth Away Studying

A neat way to encourage youth from your church when they are away studying is to send a care package. This helps these young adults during their transition years leading up to their career.

A neat idea is if each Sunday School class "adopts" one of the youth who are away studying for the year. Sending simple letters and pictures brings a smile while facing the stress of papers, exams and managing their personal lives when away from home.

The following is a suggested list of contents for a care package:

  • A "pick me up" like a fake rose or a baseball
  • A note from a sibling
  • A note from friends back home
  • After shave
  • Coupons for the grocery store
  • Deodorant
  • Home made cookies
  • Picture of the family
  • Room air fresheners
  • Shampoo
  • Shaving cream and razors
  • Snack food the parents suggest
  • Some dried pastas
  • Toothpaste
