The following are suggestions to help you respond to frustrating circumstances in ways which aren't self defeating.
- Consider the source of frustration. Are you under spiritual oppression? Praying with someone who is spiritually mature will help to discern the direction and response to the situation.
- Count to ten before you speak. It is hard to take back hurtful words spoke out of frustration. This gives you a buffer to respond objectively and stay focused on the main issue, instead of going off on a tangent.
- Pray about the situation which you are finding frustrating. Specifically ask the Lord to show you how to respond. As we approach the Lord for help He guides us by the power of His Holy Spirit.
- Read the Bible. Is there a Biblical principal you may apply and use as a pattern in how to respond? Jesus taught those who were sinners. As well the first century church faced problems we read about in the New Testament letters.
- Realize you are accepted and loved by others just for being you. Close friends will detect weaknesses in you, but still choose to be your friend.
- When you are feeling frustrated take time to count your blessings. A frustrating circumstance isn't the complete sum of your life.
