Here are some ideas to help seniors enjoy their retirement and stay mentally alert and in good emotional well being:
- Crossword puzzles
- Keep a journal. Record your visitors, weather, thoughts about the day and how you are doing. If you begin feeling lonely read over how your week has been going.
- Playing the card game "Solitaire"
- Playing the game "Scrabble"
- Start or attend a crochet or knitting group, taking turns hosting the group and serving light refreshments
- Taking day trips or short tours when a senior is not restricted by medical conditions brings back fond memories in the last years of a seniors life.

- Writing poetry
